I'm going to go with the cropped one. Nice tones in both but I think the still present but reduced shadow in the foreground is nice.

I think it looks much better in the cropped version. Somehow the silhouette of the tree is much stronger when the black foreground is cropped back.

I agree with Mark. You could try cropping the shot with a 3:2 ratio to remove some of black strip at the bottom. Nice shot!

Nice composition, with good rich tone. How would it work with some of the lower black cropped off? The black is necessary to the mountain, but not sure if it's needed below the tree. I especially like the interplay of the clouds to the mountain peak- nice tones of grey.
