Very impressive and tasteful red.
I like this color-tone.
The composition is also good.

I love the colors and the lines in this shot. I also prefer the new version, it strengthens the subject and its wide crop is more pleasant to me eye. Well done!

I really like the deepness of the red, the cracks in the wood, and the rusted metal. I think the left side of the image is definitely a lot more interesting and striking than the right, which makes for a nice contrast.

I'll post the same comment here that I did when you posted this photo on Usefilm, because I love this shot so much:

"I LOVE this one. The deep red is beautiful, the lines are SO intriguing (those horizontal lines behind the fence are just perfect), and the contrast is just enough to bring out the textures.

This goes into my favorites and gets a 7 rating from me. :)

(The only thing I would say is that you could possibly crop from the right by about one fence slat. What do you think?)"

I see that you did crop it here by about half a slat. I think the difference isn't obvious, but it's good. Maybe it has something to do with what you were saying about how photographs are supposed to have the point of interest to the right? (And I'm thinking the end of the metal fence is the point of interest...)
