I got some new equipment: a tamron 19-35mm lens for my nikon n75, and a set of magnifying filters. The bottom two tulip shots were shot with the magnifying filters. They produce very fuzzy DOF so they're not good for everything, but I think they work here.

I'm happy with the tamron lens too (and I'll post some wide-angle shots soon), but I'm very unhappy with the film developing I just got (especially considering it's $16). The prints have too much contrast and negatives are damaged. On top of that, I am having trouble scanning the colors from the negatives in so they look right (I'll ask for more advice when I post them). Anyway, here are the tulips ;-)

The scanned colors seem a little too saturated, and they tend to lose details where they are too intense (you may run into trouble if you try to print from the digital scan as printers may "posterize" the areas too saturated). But te photos are nevertheless nice colored abstracts (especially the last one where the shapes of colors take over the shape of the flower).

Great colour in these shots! And I know what you mean about paying for developing and having your Negs ruined. That recently happened to me also. I had taken some shots with my holga and not only did they crop the shot which ruined the effect, but they ruined the Negs too.

Makes me want to develop my own - but that I've been told is a tricky business!

Looking forward to seeing more shots with your magnification filters.

new toys are always fun. great soft, warmth and colors here. your framing adds more abstract interest and less like the "typical flower shot". very nice.

I got a set of magnifying filters too. But I don't know if I just got a cheap set or what but I couldn't get very good results with them. Your shots turned out well though. Maybe I'll get them back out and try again.
