Another self-portrait. Thanks for the great comments on the last one - please give me your honest opinion on this one too. It's very stylized so it's likely that some people will really dislike it. Let me know who you are!

wonderful high contrast, and great cropping and expression.

Hi, thanks for visiting my photoblog. I love this shot, the high contrast perfoms very well. The angle of your head is perfect for me and i like to look at your eye, nice expression. good work.

Contrary to your doubts, this is the one I prefer. I like high key portraits and this is well done. This kind of shots are all about eyes, and you got your well. The orientation. tight crop, and the way you are looking away make it interesting and dynamic. I like it!

Only small thing: I would have liked to see more of the upper eye, or nothing at all.

Im a fan of "non-standard" portraits in general anyway, and I like the angle of this one.

I think the problem with critiquing portraits, which applies to all areas of photography but particularly portraits imo, is that without knowing the photographer's objective in taking the shot it's very hard to pass judgement on the end result. For example, if I were to assume this was for a passport photo, I'd say it was a distinct failure. If however it were an ad for some sort of nostril-related product, you'd be spot on. Subjectively, I like the harshness and texture around the eyes and mouth but the floating nostrils are disturbing.

wonderful B&W ... very old B&W glamour feel

I love the high contrast and grain of this one. Interesting angle and crop, too.

I really like the heavily stylised version. There's the great mix of close up detail in the eyes and the mouth and a complete lack of any tone or detail on most of the face.

Billboard, marketing quality. Great job.

I must say, I liked the first one a lot more. I am not so much into this style. The picture looks 'hard'. The contrast is too much for me. You wanted my honest opinion so here it is. If I had to choose between the first or the second one, I would pick the first one.

this one's perfect! Its' like from old movie or somethig

I like the extreme contrast, as well as the fact that you have retained some tonal variation. Each of the features is isolated and dramatic.
