![]() This image had a lot of grain from the 400 iso film; I used neat image on the version shown here, but in the end I'm not sure whether the grain was that bad, so I posted the original here. What do you think? Posted by Gaja at May 19, 2005 12:11 AM © All images are copyrighted. Please contact me for permission or licensing. The grain doesn't detract from the image at all. It reminds me of an old nature documentary. Personally I think if the image is grainy then let it be so. Nothing can smooth that over, better to just shoot with ISO 100 film/settings. Posted by: GKP at May 22, 2005 5:07 AM Great photo, I love the water droplets. Posted by: Corey at May 21, 2005 11:35 PM Definitely better after cleaning up the grain, especially considering the subject matter. Posted by: Grant DeLanoy at May 21, 2005 1:38 AM Romantic and dreamy. Beautiful photograph. Posted by: Leigh at May 20, 2005 7:09 PM I like both. The grain in the original doesn't bother me, and neat image, in addition to getting rid of the noise, also got rid of some texture in the petals. It depends on what kind of feel you're going for...soft or textured. Posted by: Chiaroscuro at May 20, 2005 4:43 PM This photo is great, love the colors and the focus. Posted by: Diana at May 20, 2005 4:00 AM In this case, I prefer Neat Image output too. But sometimes this kind of noise remover program tends to smooth too much of the details. So you got to find some balance, like what you did here. Nicely done. ;) Posted by: yungyaw at May 20, 2005 3:17 AM I much prefer the processed version which has much less color noise that the original shot. Anyway, nicely spotted! Posted by: Andreas at May 19, 2005 4:40 PM I just noticed you had another version with more grain. I like the one processed in Neatimage. While I like the grain I think the processed imaged (while retaining some grain) adds a certain soft quality to the flower. Posted by: bruce at May 19, 2005 1:26 PM Beautiful image. It should be a poster! I absolutely love the color, texture and grain. Really nice job! Posted by: bruce at May 19, 2005 1:24 PM You're right, I don't think the grain is all that bad. However, I do prefer the cleaned up version. This is a nice picture. I like how close you manage to get to the flowers. It feels like you're right there inside of them instead of looking at them from above! Posted by: luminouslens at May 19, 2005 8:41 AM ~the softer focus works here, a dreamy look to this...softer pastels~ Posted by: btezra at May 19, 2005 8:34 AM I like the image you've posted here the better of the two as well--there's still enough grain to emphasize the mood, without being too distracting... Beautiful shot! Posted by: Lara Barrett at May 19, 2005 8:00 AM I prefer the grainy one myself. For me it emphasises the mood of the day which looks like it was overcast and wet. Posted by: sparx at May 19, 2005 6:36 AM What a nice shot, great color!!! Very soft! Posted by: Chantal at May 19, 2005 5:09 AM First of all great colors in this photo. I prefer the non-grainy version much better. I think that the grain takes away from the overall effect of the lovely colors. Posted by: Robert Phan at May 19, 2005 1:58 AM Post a comment |
