This photo was so much work to process, but I think it was worth it. It was very flat and boring in the original, but showed some potential. The first I did was to select the trees and shoreline (with feathering) into a new layer and blend using screen mode to lighten those areas. I tired various methods for getting the sky to look nicer, but in the end I selected the inverse (the water and sky), feathered, and used a reflected gradient to add a bit of blue color to the brownish tones. The image still looked flat so I made dulplicate layer, which I 'equalized', blended with overlay, and then reduced the opacity. Finally, the tones looked too cool in the end, so I added a yellowish toned layer, blended with color burn mode. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but that's the general idea.

This is wonderful! It takes me back to my art history days, especially looking at British landscape painting. You are very talented.

Definitely flat in the original, but its still quite impressive. And of cause you had to capture, frame, etc the original. The processing I really like as its completely natural.

I am impressed. The original was indeed washed out and the light uninteresting, but you gave it an "antique" feel and true "Rembrand" color. You created a whole new image from the ashes of the old one. The skill of being able to see potential in an image is a fundamental part of this art. Really good work!

The yellow and brown warm tones are fantastic, and that branch looks like some creepy hand reaching up from the depths of the black lagoon. This is a wonderful composition.

Awesome work - you have totally captured a classical oil painting feel. Simply brilliant.

Looks like you also enjoy the random experimentation type approach that photoshop tends to foster. :)
