Lines and Shadows

I realized that having left my last post up for so long with no follow up might have been a little disconcerting ;-) No, all is well, my proposal passed. I have just been so busy with school and my stock photography endeavors that I have little time or energy left for my blog ;-(

As far as stock endeavors, abandoning microstock to create a new macro stock portfolio has paid off. I have been accepted by Alamy although getting my portfolio up there is going to take ages. If you're curious you can see my current tiny collection of 13 images here. I am also working on a stock website for myself.

With respect to microstock, I stopped submitting images a couple months ago (to focus on creating the new portfolio) and to my surprise my earnings have not suffered. I have been making steady earnings of $250 per month (which is about a $1 per image, depending on the site). It's really nice to be earning money while doing absolutely nothing ;-) BTW the image of the sold sign that I posted a couple entries ago is leaving all my other photos in the dust. It alone has earned me about $100 dollars so far (that's a lot of 20 and 50 cent downloads!).

Well done for moving over to Alamy. I have 13 photos up on alamy as well -[ http://www.alamy.com/stock-photography-contrib-browse.asp?cid={E89CDB6C-50EB-4EFB-9958-78F052622180}&name=Graeme+Pack ] I must say though that in 1 month I have made no sales although I need to get all my images uploaded (QC takes ages). I see the average price paid for a RF image is about $200 but if I understand things correctly the the sales can be slow. I think you have a better idea of what is need for stock sales though. Good luck

Cool shot. I'm fascinated by what I'm reading on your stock pursuits. Congrats on getting picked up and good luck with it... thanks for keeping us posted.

The shadow that divides the upper flight of steps, on the left, is what suggests the Aztec influence, methinks. Thanks for the continued insights into the stock photography world, and it's always great to hear about your steady progress in that genre!

Those steps look quite familiar! But I like what you have done with the interplay of the shadows with the form of the steps.

These steps are not at all Mexican inspired as far as I know, but somehow the way you have framed these steps reminds me of Aztec temples.

Well, congrats on your "for sale" sign sales!! I'm about to step outside and take some borrrrrring photos of a "for rent" sign on a nearby front lawn for my own microstock endeavors. Hey, if that's what sells, I'll bite. Hopefully I can get mine to look as nice as yours though. I think one reason yours sells so well is that there's something homey about the scene.
